Summer Fire Safety Tips

The Dangers of Droughts

Droughts are a concern in some areas of the US during the hot summer months. The American Red Cross defines a drought as “a period of abnormally dry weather that persists long enough to produce a serious hydrologic imbalance.” If you live in an area that may experience drought, you may want to be extra cautious when using fireworks, grills or other flammable materials — droughts can increase the risks of hazards, such as wildfires. Keep in mind that your state and local government may also place regulations on water usage during or before droughts. Find out what regulations your local government has on droughts and drought safety here.
