Nurtec ODT is used to prevent and treat the symptoms of migraine headaches. Nurtec ODT belongs to a group of medications called calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonists (CGRPs). It works by blocking the action of a certain natural substance in the body that causes migraine headaches.

Nurtec ODT comes as a tablet that is placed on or under the tongue where it dissolves without water. Nurtec ODT can be taken 1 time each day as needed for treatment of migraine headaches. You should not take more than 1 tablet in 24 hours. For the preventive treatment of episodic migraine, take Nurtec ODT once every other day. Up to 18 doses of Nurtec ODT can be taken per month.

Common side effects include nausea, stomach pain and indigestion.
